Fall is in the air! I saw leaves falling and trees starting to change colors today and the first thing I thought about was: Coats. I’m in the market for a new coat this fall/winter, and there are a lot of awesome styles out there that I’m drooling over. A couple things I’m looking for:
1. Texture, as in the tweed swing coat by Steve Madden below.
2. Interesting collars, as in the navy blue coat at Target.
3. Color — this green coat by Asos is beautiful and I love the clean lines.
4. Swing — I want my coat to have movement, and there’s something so sexy about the fuller shape of this Asos coat.
5. Pattern, as with this houndstooth coat by Calvin Klein. Wearing houndstooth in Alabama is tricky because people automatically assume you’re a University of Alabama fan. But this is THE PATTERN for this season, and I’ll definitely indulge in it a little bit.

I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I remember, at one time tipping the scale at 289 pounds. At the end of 2009, weighing in at about 275, I started counting calories (I now use Weight Watchers) and exercising regularly, finally finding some success in this ongoing battle. After a scare from my doctor in early 2010, that success became even more important to my overall health. It’s still a challenge, and the scale definitely moves up and down instead of just down, but my confidence that I will reach my goal is solid.
