P Is For Purchase

I always loved when Stacy London on “What Not To Wear” would say, “Purchase!” when finding the perfect item in a store. In the last week or so, I’ve bought (or received as a gift!) the perfect items that I needed for my wardrobe. I’m trying to approach any shopping I do with a couple of things in mind:

1. Is it something I would consider a staple in my wardrobe that I will get a TON of use out of?
2. Is the price reasonable? Can I research online and find something of similar quality at a cheaper price?
3. Does it move my “look” forward and make me feel good about myself?

Here’s what I’ve found so far to supplement my closet for the season!

Purchase No. 1
I already posted this ponte blazer from Target once in “My Dream Fall Outfit” post and I recently bought it for my birthday. It is so comfortable and still looks sleek enough for the office. I bought the plain black one, but I plan to buy this striped one, too.

Purchase No. 2
I really need new, dark wash jeans and I like the way these Rockstar jegging-like ones at Old Navy fit. Yes, that’s right, I said jeggings. I had to order the plus-size version online because I needed just a little more room than the straight-size ones allow. But I wanted a pair of skinny jeans that would stretch and be comfortable, and fit inside boots. So once these arrive, I’ll pair them with longer shirts, the blazer above, tunics … anything that will still look flattering since the jeans are a snugger fit than I used to wear (’tis the look right now, and I think plus-size girls do it well when paired with the right top!).

Purchase No. 3 — actually a gift!
My friend Dominika sent me this sassy scarf for my birthday! I’ve been wanting a gray leopard-print scarf and this one, with a pop of pink, is perfect! I’ve worn it several times already. I love accenting an outfit with a scarf and having a variety of lengths, colors and patterns is an easy, cheap way to liven things up. Thanks, Domka!

Purchase No. 4 — To Come
I’m still searching for a new pair of boots. I thought I wanted a pair of tall, flat black boots, but now I’m leaning toward something mid-calf or shorter. What do you think of these choices below?

Love that scarf – it is so you! I just bought my first pair of ankle boots, but they have heels. As you suggested, they were much cheaper online than in-store!
