I promise that I started to write this post last night! I just got sidetracked by a few things (the Alabama v. Notre Dame game … Martha Stewart’s Weddings).
This is the first and most magnificent Magnificent Mondays post of all because of my big news! Most of you already know this if you’re friends with me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter: I’m engaged!! It happened this weekend and I could not be happier. So excited!!
Of course, this is fueling my 2013 Get It efforts even more because now that a wedding’s on the horizon, I am really looking forward to getting more fit! Besides trimming down, obvs, you know I’m going to be working my back and arms out incessantly. Gotta look fine in my wedding dress, honey!
A quick side note: What do you think of my new header?! This is part of Javacia’s 31 Days To A Better Blog challenge, but I’d actually asked my coworker Laurie to design something for me a month or so ago. It just so happened that she emailed this to me this weekend, and it’s perfect! It’s exactly what I wanted. A big thanks to Laurie!!!
Let’s move on to the good things I did for myself last week — the things that make this Monday magnificent:
1. You already know I signed up for 30 days of unlimited classes at Inspire Fitness. I attended my first spinning class there Friday evening and it was so much fun! The music was awesome, the videos kept me entertained and our instructor, Gabe, was encouraging. It was a tough class for me; I definitely didn’t keep up completely. But I’m happy for the challenge!
2. I also took yoga at Inspire Fitness on Saturday morning and I’m so, so glad I did. I’m fairly flexible, but nowhere near like someone who regularly practices yoga, so the class was a challenge for me as well. But taking the time to stretch and feel your body and just be quiet: so amazing! I will definitely try to do this class once a week.
3. I started counting points again on Weight Watchers after a hiatus over Christmas. It just feels good to keep track of what I’m putting in my mouth so I don’t allow myself to overeat. Best accountability tool I’ve ever found!
4. I met with a few people from my United Way Young Leaders Group (I’m so honored to serve as vice president this year!) and we started planning for the year. It’s exciting to work with a group of young professionals who all want the best for the community and want to help the growth of the younger population. Excited about 2013!
So that’s where I am right now. This week has been full of well wishes from family and friends and I just feel so blessed. Surrounded by love. It’s definitely focusing me on all the positives in my life. There are so many!
How was your week last week? Did you make any strives in becoming a healthier, more well-rounded person?

I think your header is awesome!! I love old dress forms. Congrats on the engagement!
I am SO excited for you and Jermaine! Love the header too
I am too excited for you and Jermaine! I need to talk to your friend Laurie about her rates. Your new header is gorgeous! I also need to start coming to Inspire Fitness with you. Let me know what days you plan to go. I’m looking forward to trying out the classes.
