I’m having a hard time believing that tomorrow is a new year — I know it’s cliche, but 2015 really does seem to have flown by in a flash!
But I am really excited about a new beginning. Again, it may be silly to look at Jan. 1 as this huge jumping off point for whatever it is you’re looking to do, but I love the eagerness and motivation of that fresh start. It’s why I don’t mind Mondays, and I love the first of a new month, too.
But before I get ready to kick off 2016 — with a lot of big changes — including a new job! — I want to reflect a bit on 2015.
My goals at the start of this year included the phrase “Do Better.” I wanted to give myself attainable goals, but work to be realistic and try for daily challenges that would lead to an evolution, not a resolution.
I think in some ways I achieved this goal. Here’s a review of some of those goals!
I worked to grow my wardrobe to include more fashion-forward looks, like this awesome jumpsuit that I love.
I also kept up my usual workouts, while trying new things such as swimming and SOL Dance.
I became more involved with events around Birmingham, including See Jane Write and Birmingham Girls Club.
And I hosted three Makeshift 5ks, virtually and in person, with readers from my blog. This was one of my biggest adventures for 2015, and I’m so thankful for all your support! There will be more Makeshift 5ks in 2016!
I also worked on my blog more this year than ever before, and in the next couple of days I’m going to show off a couple new things that I can’t wait to reveal to you all.
Blogging has become a true passion of mine, partly because I’ve expressed more about my feelings on body positivity and confidence during 2015 than I have in the past. The response to those posts, and the feeling I get from writing on those topics fuels me to write even more about it in the future. It’s a topic that hits close to home — for me and so many other women — so I intend to keep highlighting awesome role models and commenting on issues we face in society, just as I have this year.
One goal I had for last year — setting modest weight-loss goals — I don’t feel necessarily successful at, but when it comes to my relationship with my weight, with my body, I’m growing more and more and learning what works for me and what doesn’t every day. One big part of that growth has been the Stellar Fit Fam — my Facebook group where we can exchange ideas and support one another. I’d love for you to join us!
All in all, with the ups and downs, 2015 was an awesome year. I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings, and I hope you’ll join me for the next chapter!
Happy New Year!
