The Women Who Rule Birmingham

Take a look at the good changes that are happening in Birmingham, listen closely and you’ll see the Magic City’s cheerleaders are largely female.

And they rule.

This weekend I happily celebrated with two women who inspire me daily: Javacia Harris Bowser of See Jane Write and The Writeous Babe Project, and Sherri Ross, who runs Birmingham Dance Walk and Birmingham Girls Club.

Saturday Javacia held a five-year anniversary party for See Jane Write — an organization that encourages and educates female writers and bloggers. It was wonderful to see the accomplished women who were all there because of what Javacia has brought to our lives.

She has given us a voice, given us confidence and given us a tribe.

And we are so grateful!

On Sunday afternoon I was overwhelmed with joy to see the amazing turnout at Railroad Park for Sherri’s Birmingham Dance Walk.

The energy was infectious and the people were welcoming, all ages, races, sexes — we celebrated the day, Birmingham and the fun that fitness can be when you let loose and just dance.

Sherri’s ability to bring people together has always amazed me. I admire her for her outgoing, warm, embracing personality.

She’s a joy to have in my life, and I know many others feel the same!

Thank you to these two wonderful women — and the men and women who support them — who show Birmingham what can be done with a little hard work and positivity.

You are inspiring to me, and the entire city.

You rule Birmingham!

Thank you SO much for the kind words and always being so amazingly supportive! I could not do 1/2 the things I do around here without your help and guidance so thank YOU for being my sound board, my blogging buddy, and one of my biggest fans. The feeling is quite mutual!
