I can’t believe the next Makeshift 5k is only three weeks away!
On Saturday, Oct. 8 at 8 a.m. I will host the seventh Makeshift 5k — and I hope you will join me!
If you live in Birmingham, Alabama, come to the Homewood soccer field parking lot (off Green Springs Hwy. and Lakeshore) and walk or run 3.1 miles with us. We’ll have music and prizes to get us going, and snacks and water when we get back to the finish line!
The Makeshift 5k is casual and free — there’s no registration or fee. However, I’d love if you RSVP here on Facebook to let me know you’re coming!
If you don’t live in Birmingham, please join us on a 3.1-mile walk or run where you live and post a photo on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #stellarmiles. We’ll cheer you on virtually!
Please note that while this is technically a 5k, if you aren’t quite up for a full 3.1 miles, that is OK! Please come join us and walk or run as far as you’d like.
We welcome people of all fitness levels, so you can feel comfortable walking or running (or both!) as fast or as slow as you want and need to. This is your race and your chance to do something great physically with a supportive community.
Over the past year and a half, this event has become a way to keep my running and walking regimen a part of my regular exercise routine. I’ve always wanted to be able to walk and run a 5k at the drop of a dime, so this is how I try to keep myself ready!
I will see you in your workout gear and sneakers on Oct. 8, and don’t forget to RSVP here!
