What can I say about the cover design for my book except: I LOVE IT!!!
I seriously cannot say enough good things about the design — I knew I wanted a superhero, but other than that I had no clue. And my supergirl alter-ego, and the background detail, turned out 100 times better than I’d imagined. When I first saw the design that Samantha Gibbons created, I honestly teared up! She took what was in my head and created something a thousand times better than I’d imagined. I was lucky to work with her on this project, and I’m so thankful for her help.
Sam is a coworker of mine and also a freelancer — check out her designs here. Her partner owns Humphries Screen Printing — you should check them out, too!
I had a lot of help getting Fat Girl Power off to the publishing service — from Amy Bickers who answered a lot of questions about the self-publishing tool CreateSpace, to Summer Hunt who copy edited every page, to Kavitha Vasagar and Mandy Shunnarah who also helped with edits and insight. Not to mention many others who cheered me on … you can read all about them in the acknowledgments when the book comes out!
The saying “it takes a village” is no joke — it really is true that you can’t do anything worthwhile all on your own. I’m lucky to have an awesome writing community here in Birmingham, See Jane Write, which is full of women who encourage one another for each and every goal, each and every step along the way. The leader, Javacia, is one of the most inspiring women on the planet, so if you’re in need of a supportive tribe, you should definitely join See Jane Write, which is open for membership now for a limited time.
Let me know what you think about the cover design in the comments! I hope you love it as much as I do!
