A few weeks ago, a representative of the Red Shoe Run here in Birmingham asked if I was interested in working with them to spread the word about the run and put together a team for the event.
Um, yes please!
Not only is it time for me to sign up for an official race, because it’s been a while, but I am deeply fond of the work the Ronald McDonald House Charities does. So there was no question for me that I wanted to join in!
I have organized a team, called StellarFitness, for the Jan. 21 race, and you can join me by going here and signing up! My goal is for the team to raise at least $500, so whatever you can chip in or ask your friends and family to chip in will be much appreciated.
I’m choosing to run the 5k, but there’s also a 10-mile option and a 1-mile fun fun — so sign up for whichever option you’d like, and even sign up your kids for the shortest distance!
I’ve participated in this run in the past, and it’s a great course, though a little hilly on the 10-mile route. So make sure to train for hills, and you’ll have no problem.
I hope you’ll consider donating if you live outside of Birmingham. And I hope you’ll join me Jan. 21 if you do live here!
