It’s hard for me to even put into words how much I loved the baby shower my mom and sister threw for me earlier in July — but I will try!
The fact that they planned all of this while living up North and then flew down here with my niece, aunt and cousins and put everything together in a day — while my poor sister Karen suffered from a knee injury —I am just amazed and so, so grateful!
Here’s a ton of photos from the shower because you just have to see the fun to believe it!
My mom had the fun idea to plan a make-your-own pizza party for the guests at the shower, and it worked brilliantly! They chose to host the shower at Vecchia at The Preserve in Hoover, and we can’t say enough positive things about the experience and the staff. Oh! And the meatballs are to die for!!
The sweet princess-themed decorations were so pretty, and the pink, lavender and gold is exactly the same as our Penelope’s nursery, so it was fun seeing that carried through at the shower. My amazing husband arranged for the dessert — a yummy array of cupcakes from Edgar’s Bakery!
With some help from the staff at Vecchia, we got down to making our own pizzas! It was such a fun, interactive activity — and we even got to put the pizzas in the oven ourselves. The pizzas cooked in no time, and tasted delicious. And of course we topped it off with something sweet!
Of course we had a couple of fun baby shower activities — in the photo above you can see people left us funny notes or advice on diapers, which we’ll get to read when we use them for Penny! We also played the popular clothespin game. The secret word? Baby, of course! Emily and Sherri tied to take home the prize.
I had a few little helpers to assist me with the gift opening!
I was lucky enough to have lots of family there — from my side of the family and my husband’s — as well as friends from my blogging group, different jobs I’ve held in Birmingham, and even an old college friend! It was amazing to see friends and family have fun with one another, and their support means so much to us.
We can’t thank everyone enough for the adorable, handy gifts, and we are so blessed to have all of you in our lives to help us welcome Penelope Grace into the world. We love y’all!
